Miyar Naula Trek
The Miyar Valley, located in the Indian part of the Great Himalaya Range, stretches for over 100km  from Udaipur to the Kang La pass. The locals - the Tharanga people - are mainly shepherds and farmers much like the Gaddis but follow a curious mix of Hindu/Buddhist religion. It is the westernmost of the Lahul valley's on the watershed between the Lahul & Zanskar in Ladakh, it's known for its profusion of wild flowers and medicinal herbs especially during July and August and its breathtaking landscape of quaint villages and rolling meadows which are replaced by glaciers and big rock walls as you move deeper into the valley

Day 1: Arrive - Delhi
Arrive New Delhi and transfer to the Hotel for the overnight stay

Day 2: Delhi - Chandigrah - Manali
Early morning transfer to board train (Shatabdi Express) to Chandigarh. Met on arrival at Chandigarh railway station and drive to Manali (1920 mt / 310 km drive). Arrive and check into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Manali
Morning at leisure for independent activities. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Hadimba Temple, Vashisht Hot Spring etc. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 4: Manali - Urgos
Morning after breakfast drive down to reach Darcha while crossing Rohtang Pass. Transversing past Rohtang pass, you will be driven away from Manali to Urgos. Urgos is at the confluence with the valley leading to the Mt. Menthosa (6,443m). Arrive and set a campsite for overnight stay.

Day 5: Urgos - Khanjaar
Now gentle walk down to the river floor, a newly constructed bridge to be cross, further 2 km on the true left side of the valley, to the village of Khanjar (3450m). Arrive and set a campsite for overnight stay.

Day 6: Khanjjar - Tarang
Continue trek to Tarang(3450 mt) along the left bank. Ford.a side stream originating from Shinku Pass. Climb to the campsite at the confluence of a side stream with the Myar stream. Arrive and set a campsite for overnight stay.

Day 7: Tarang - Base Camp
Trek to Base Camp (3900 mt).Ascent right side of Miyar Nullah. The track becomes difficult as you have to cross several streams on the way. Various alpine flowers can be seen as Miyar Valley is famous for its blue poppies. Arrive and set a camp near Glacier for overnight stay.

Day 8: Base Camp - Camp 1
Start your trek to camp 2.The trek to the shepherds camp locally known as Khai got 4100m. Further to an open meadows. Crossing some side streams. A comfortable base before heading to Zanskar. Overnight in Camp.

Day 9: Camp 1 - Camp 2
Walk across the terminal moraine to the left side of the glacier, route tiring ups and downs along and increasingly ill-defined trail. Demanding terrains for the first 7/ 8 kms untill the confluence with a glacier flowing from the East side. Easy going from here with a gradual ascent over smooth black ice. An occasional well exposed crevasses to negotiate. Camp 2 4800 mt just above the confluence with the side glacier. Overnight in Camp.

Day 10: Camp 2 - Camp 3
Trek to Camp 3 (4800 mt) . Slog over the glacier to reach the Tarasumla pass 5360 . The descent from the pass is steep. Camp at the foot of the pass on the other tongue of the glacier Arrive and set a campsite for overnight stay.

Day 11: Camp 3 - Zanskar Sumdo
Climb down along the easily identifiable track to Zanskar Sumdo. Arrive and set a campsite for overnight stay.

Day 12: Zanskar Sumdo - Chuminakpo
Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Chumi Nakpo by covering approx 14 kms in 4-5 hrs. A steep climb just after the camp and climb down gradually upto Chumi Nakpo trekking for 4 -5 H rs, Chumikanakpo springs into picture. Resting the journey to a halt, your camp at a superb location. Upon arrival set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 13: Chuminakpo - Lakham
Unlike the previous day you take on a little challenging route. After breakfast, you follow the trail that meanders through several ascents to Shingo La which is at an elevation of 5100m. From here onwards, you begin descending towards Lakong. It normally takes 6-7 hours to trek up to 4470 meters. Upon arival set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 14: Lakham - Kurgiak
You have to follow the trail that paves to Kurgiak. As you enter Zanskar after several descents, you will observe a pleasant diversity in the landscape. 6-7 hours of trek eventually ends on arriving at your camp site in Kurgiak at an altitude of 4060 meters. Once again you spend the night at your camp.

Day 15: Kurgyak - Purne
The path leads away from the river, gradually up the slope. First view of rocky escarpment. Further on, a pass with cairn and pasture. Fantastic view of Zanskar valley By passing behind a rocky bridge follow steep gorge. Cross a stream. Then arrive Tanze village. . Short distance beyond Tanze, there is a small bridge across to the left bank. Slight rise leading to Kuru village. Arrival in Testa beautifull village the path continues downwards near the river. Walk along the left bank, and then climb to Yal. Crossing village descent towards a bridge, which you cross to Purne for overnight halt. Upon arival set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 16: Purne - Phuktal - Purne
In the morning after breakfast you advance towards Phugtal Gompa, the most dotted gompa in Ladakh. On following the left bank of the Tsarap River and crossing a bridge, Phugtal Gompa can be sighted on the limestone cliff. Inside the Gompa you can see that an enormous cave has been built into its main assembly hall. After excursing through this religious site, you head back to Purne with ultimate spiritual rejuvenation.

Day 17: Purne - Pipula
We trek through the Gorge, along the Zanskar River to get to a small Hamlet of Gyalbok, located in the middle of the Gorge on a hill. This is a very beautiful track. We camp overnight at Pipula along the River Zanskar

Day 18: Pipula - Padum
The trek starts immediately after breakfast. You have to walk for 2 hours to reach Ichar.From this place a dusty motorable road leads to Padum (3650 m). Arrive and drive to Padum while visiting Burdan Monastery en route. Arrive Padum and check in to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 19: Padum - Karcha - Padum
Morning after breakfast, we will take you to a visit to The Monastery of Karsha (The largest monastery of Zanskar, Karsha Gompa is an imposing complex of neatly white washed building blocks comprising several chapels, besides residential cells for its nearly 150 lamas, who belong to the Geluks-pa sect. Built picturesquely along the steeply rising mountainside above Karsha village, the monastery can be seen from far. Later in the afternoon return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 20: Padum
PADUM Today, we will explore the Monasteries of Thongde and Zangla in the morning. STONGDEY Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the oasis-like village below, the picturesque monastery of Stongdey lies 18 kms to the north of Padum, on the Padum-Zangla road. An old foundation associated with the Tibetan Yogi Marpa, Stongdey is now the second largest monastic establishment of Zanskar, which is inhabited by a resident community of about 60 Geluks-pa lamas. ZANGLA Situated 35 kms further ahead of Padum in the northern branch valley of Zanskar, Zangla was ruled by a titular king till his death about two decades back. The old castle, now in ruins except for a small chapel, occupies a hill overlooking the desertic valley below. Nearby is an old Buddhist nunnery worth a visit to observe the aust ere lifestyle of the small community of nuns. An old monastery situated in the nearby village of Tsa-zar, midway between Stangdey and Zangla, has exquisite frescoes that should not be missed. Later return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 21: Padum - Rangdum
Morning after an early breakfast drive back to Kargil via Rangdum. Enroute visit to Saini Gompa. Rangdum (The farthest and most isolated part of the Suru valley, Rangdum (3657 m) is surrounded by colourful hills on the one side and glacier-encrusted rocky mountains on the other. Situated 130 kms south-east of Kargil, it falls midway between Kargil and Padum. Upon arrival, check-in at your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 22: Rangdum - Kargil
Today in the morning we will take you to the Monastery of Rangdum (The main attraction of Rangdum is the 18th century Buddhist monastery of the Geluks-pa order with about 40 resident monks. Afterwards, we will proceed to Kargil via Panzella Pass (Panzella is located at an elevation of more than 4,200 m over the Zanskar range (Penzella mountains).You will arrive Kargil and check-in at your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 23: Kargil - Alchi
Leave in the morning for a full day drive to Leh. Today we ascend three passes. First Buddhist village will be Mulbek. We cross the highest pass (Fotula 4166 mtrs.) on Srinagar Leh route. On the way visit Monastery of Lamayuru . Continue drive to Alchi.On arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 24: Alchi - Leh
Morning after breakfast take a short walk to visit Alchi Monastery.Later drive to Leh enroute passing through Saspol village a few kms from Alchi turn left of the road and enter Likir village. Visit LIKIR GOMPA of Geluks-pa sect.Also visit BASGO GOMPA dedicated to Matraya. Built by then emperor Tsewang Namgyal, it is the only gompa in Ladakh with original surviving 16th century murals. Arrive Leh and check-into hotel for overnight stay at hotel

Day 25: Leh
Morning after breakfast, we will take you to a guided tour of the Monasteries of the Indus Valley. Your excursion would include visits to Hemis, Shey Palace,Thiksy Monastery Return to your hotel by the later part of the afternoon. Evening you can walk down to the nearest market on your own or spend some time at leisure. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 26: Leh - Delhi & Depart
Morning after an early breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport to board flight to Delhi. Shikhar Travels’ Representative would receive you at Delhi Airport then Proceed for a guided tour of New Delhi covering Rashtrapati Bhawan (is the official residence of the President of India. India Gate (is a majestic high arch,42 meters high, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in world war 1) and The Qutab Minar (The 72.5m high tower dates back to the 13th century and is one of the greatest bequests of the Islamic culture). Later in the evening we will take you to your “Farewell Dinner”. After dinner, our representatives will escort the group to the International Airport to board flight for onward destination
